Holiday Product Extravaganza

According to today's latest rumors (see "New stuff?! Tomorrow?!", below), Apple's gearing up for their holiday sales push (even more than already) by announcing new iMacs and Powermacs tomorrow (according to Think Secret).

The Powermac update would be mostly minor, expanding the line to four models with the addition of a Dual 1.8 GHz machine. The current 1.6 and 1.8 GHz machines would drop $200 and $300 respectively.

But the new iMac is the center of attention here. The current reports claim that Apple's ready to unveil a 20 inch model of the flagship consumer Mac. Either this machine will look extremely top-heavy, or this could be the major iMac redesign we've heard so much - and so little - about.

Of course, if the iMac is updated tomorrow, it would seem unlikely that the line would see a major revision in January (although I do realize that the TiBook was updated the November before the AlBook MWSF introduction). This could (I'm speculating here) mean that the rumored 20th/25th Anniversary Mac could be a completely new machine, though this is simply speculative for the time being (we'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow).

I mean, 20 inches! That'd look really weird!
